Marathon Lessons

Posted on Friday, September 28th, 2018

Welcome to the Manchester Enterprise Group newsletter, brought to you by our copywriting agency, Making You Content.

We talked about challenging ourselves this week – exploring different ways in which we can work together to take the group further and generate leads for our members.

During an open discussion, the recurring leitmotif was targeted networking. Some ideas emanating from the table included taking turns to share first degree LinkedIn connections with other members, as well as providing names of specific people we’d each like to talk to.

We’ll look into implementing some of these changes as we move forward. Here are all the highlights from the rest of the meeting…

The Theme: Marathon Lessons

Our performance psychologist Stuart Holliday (Focused Mind Coaching) reeled off a Thought of the Day that was perfectly in tune with the meeting’s “challenging ourselves” theme: reflecting on his own experience in the recent Berlin Marathon.

Stu compared the process of running a marathon to running a business. Pounding the tarmac and racing between meetings are both real tests of endurance that require heart and stamina. But ultimately, it’s up to you to embrace the test and go for gold. The marathon owes you nothing.

There are times when you’ll feel like quitting, but if you stick it out, the rewards are numerous. Not only do you gain important experience on that long run to the finish line, you also learn a considerable amount about yourself as an individual. It’s a transformative experience, and every day you trade as a business owner is a personal milestone in your marathon journey.

Stu encouraged all our business owners to keep going on their respective marathons, and summed up: “See you at the finish line…”.

Welcome, Warren!

We’re delighted to announce that Warren Williams has officially signed on the dotted line to become the latest MEG member.

Warren is the founder of Didia – a thriving digital marketing agency based in Manchester City Centre. We’re looking forward to seeing him up at Cloud 23 for future meetings.

If you’d like to be among the guests at the next MEG, you can book your spot by visiting our Eventbrite page.

The Speaker: Robin Raymond (AFS Biomass)

Every week, a MEG member gets the opportunity to showcase their brand by hosting a ten-minute presentation.

Robin Raymond stood before the group last Thursday to talk about AFS Biomass – a designer, supplier, installer and maintainer of biomass boiler heating systems for both commercial and domestic properties.

By taking us through a series of case studies (accompanied by images of each work stage), Robin offered MEG members insight into how AFS Biomass operate when installing a green heating system.

The Events

We like to share details of local events that might involve, or be useful to, our networking group. In this section, you can discover more about the best business meetings in Manchester and find out where our members are in action outside MEG.
