Perseverance And Observation

Posted on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Welcome to the Manchester Enterprise Group newsletter, brought to you by our copywriting agency, Making You Content.

It’s a joy to see everyone rallying around the national football side as they edge one step closer to World Cup glory.

Our members have continued to do their own fair share of cheering here at Cloud 23, too, and at our recent meeting there was a lot of talk about how everyone has been getting behind one another – during good times and bad.

The Theme: Perseverance And Observation

Christopher Ball provided the Thought of the Day this week, discussing the power of perseverance and the value of observation.

Chris explained how he had recently been stuck in a particularly quiet period work-wise, which couldn’t have come at a worse time given how he had just purchased a house.

After slipping into the spiral of doing less and thinking more, Chris said that it was only by picking himself up and getting out there that he was able to change things.

Chris made the effort to be more observational, taking photos of his day-to-day surroundings and posting regularly on his Instagram account. Eventually, he snapped a portrait that captured the imagination of his social followers, which kick-started a new string of incoming projects.

If you don’t do anything, Chris warned, then nothing will happen. That’s why it’s important to persevere – and MEG members are always on hand to offer that support when it’s needed.

The Guests

We had a few new faces in the building this week for our mid-summer meeting. We’d like to extend a big MEG welcome to:

Naomi & Darcus from The Hair Sancturary

Rick Flay from Blue Bull Finance

And MEG member Cathy Wallwork’s daughter Olivia, came down to experience the event too.

We hope to see you all again very soon!

The Speaker: Cathy Wallwork, Virtual Training Centre

Every week, a MEG member gets the opportunity to showcase their brand by hosting a ten-minute presentation.

Cathy Wallwork took to the stage on Thursday, talking about how she gave her training business a competitive edge by taking courses online.

Success was found, Cathy said, by focusing Virtual Training Centre on a specific niche. The company continue to offer some of the best courses available in maritime training, personal development, cybersecurity, anti-terrorism, and health and safety.

The presentation ended with Cathy commenting on how being part of MEG has helped her business thrive, as she travels down from the lakes each Thursday morning to converse with fellow members and ask them for advice on what steps to take.

Thank you to Cathy for her great presentation! Next time at MEG, Jacob O’Brien steps up to tell the group about his law firm, Brandsmiths.
